Whitley has made this event for children to have a fun while learning social skills. The food and games are donated by local business and funded by Donnie Whitley. Donnie Whitley currently works as a Parole/Probation Officer for the state of Michigan. He has been working in law enforcement for over ten years. Working in law enforcement, he states, "I know CRIME". His experience and training has given him the foresight to fight for legislative reform that is needed in our justice system, legislative reform that is cost effective and not at the expense of public safety. As a small business owner, FilmWaves Video and Photography, he understands the need to own the businesses and create the jobs. Donnie Whitley would like to see more business owners reside in the same community as their business. He produced, directed, and wrote a documentary on the abandon housing issue in the city of Detroit. He would like to address the voters of District 2 with this message. "I love the district where I live. It looks nothing like it did over 20 years ago when I grew up. I feel as if this is home and that I shouldn't have to move. Let the people who are breaking into our homes, cars, and committing unspeakable crimes move. The abandon home issue is an eye sore for this community. However, the core of the problems of recent is a result of predatory lending and the lack of jobs in the state of Michigan. Help me; help you in Lansing".
